Miss Independent
2011
Today was back to school day for us. Ansley was excited to get started on her last year of preschool and I was ready to have a few hours with just Cole and I during the week. I can’t believe she will be in kindergarten next year! She is always telling me about how it’s only a few years until she’ll be in high school…sad thing is…she’s right! I know time is only going to speed up over the next few years.
Of course we have been to the school three times in the past three days for various pre-school activities. Mr. M2C and I had to attend a parent meeting on Tuesday night. We met the teacher and toured the classroom. The next morning we had to get up and take Ansley to meet and greet her new teacher. This is a great opportunity for the kids to get acclimated to their new surroundings. The goal is that it will calm first day fears. I’m sure having this opportunity is a wonderful thing for most parents but to the parents of an independent social butterfly?…BORING! While most kids are being coaxed through the classroom by their parents, Mr. M2C and I are standing around watching Ansley put on dress up clothes, chat with other kids and do her own thing. She never hesitates or checks to see if we are still there.
It’s great to have such an independent kid but it sure does leave us parents feeling left out. I’m so proud of my girl! I wish her all the best on her first day!
Do you have an independent kiddo? Tell me about it!
